National Sanitation Day Observed By The People Of Alakple-Anloga

Residents of Alakple-Anloga came together in large numbers to observe this year’s National Sanitation Day through a community-wide clean-up exercise aimed at promoting a cleaner and healthier environment.

The exercise also formed part of activities marking the Miss Alakple Festival, bringing together community members, youth, and local leaders in a shared effort to improve sanitation within the area.

As part of the programme, participants received health education from a medical officer, who highlighted the importance of preventing malaria through early treatment, proper use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets, and maintaining good personal and environmental hygiene.

The District Environmental Health Officer (DEHO) also educated residents on environmental management practices that help control mosquito breeding. Community members were encouraged to eliminate stagnant water, clear choked drains, and keep their surroundings clean to reduce the spread of malaria and other sanitation-related diseases.

The event demonstrated the community’s commitment to environmental cleanliness, public health, and collective responsibility, while adding significance to the celebrations of the Miss Alakple Festival.
