Tsorgbakope Benefits from SIGRA Water Extension Project

Residents of Tsorgbakope, a community within the Agbledomi area of the Anloga District, have welcomed improved access to potable water following the commissioning of a water extension project on 9th June 2026.

The project is part of the Agbledomi Safe Water Access and Storage Initiative under the Strengthening Investments in Gender-Responsive Climate Adaptation (SIGRA) programme, which seeks to improve access to safe water and strengthen community resilience to climate-related challenges.

Tsorgbakope is one of three beneficiary communities in the Agbledomi area, together with Alakope and Amemeliokope. The intervention provides piped-water extensions and community-managed water storage systems to help bring reliable water services closer to residents.

The new infrastructure is expected to make a significant difference in the daily lives of people in Tsorgbakope by reducing the difficulty of accessing potable water. It will also support improved sanitation and hygiene and contribute to better public health within the community.

Water shortages in parts of the Agbledomi area have been associated with challenges including salinity and prolonged dry seasons, making the intervention particularly relevant to the needs of residents.

The project is estimated to directly benefit about 1,300 people, while the wider beneficiary communities are expected to gain from the improved water infrastructure and related benefits.

The project also highlights the collaboration between the Anloga District Assembly and its development partners in providing essential infrastructure and supporting communities affected by climate-related challenges.

Residents of Tsorgbakope have been encouraged to take ownership of the facility, use it responsibly and ensure that it is properly maintained for the continued benefit of the community.
