Easter Festivities In Anlo Communities Marked By Cultural Display And Development Appeals

As part of this year’s Easter celebrations, key government officials joined residents across several Anlo communities in the Volta Region to mark the occasion with vibrant cultural activities and community engagement.
The District Chief Executive was accompanied by the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, and the Chief of Staff at the Office of the Vice President, Alex Segbefia, among other distinguished guests. The team participated in Easter festivals held in Alakple and Dzita and extended visits to Tregui, Agorbledokui, Blemazado, and Attiteti.
A major highlight of the celebrations in Dzita was the presence of the Awoamefia of Anlo, Togbi Sri III, who graced the occasion as Special Guest of Honour. The event featured rich cultural displays, traditional music, and dance, showcasing the heritage and unity of the Anlo people.
Beyond the festivities, the visit provided an opportunity for direct engagement with community members, who expressed pressing development concerns. Residents of Dzita called for the urgent resumption of the stalled sea defense project to address coastal erosion. They also appealed for improved road infrastructure, particularly for communities along the lagoon, and urged authorities to dredge the estuary between Ada and the Volta Region to boost fish production and support mangrove restoration.
In Agorbledokui, community members emphasized the need for better road networks and the establishment of a health facility to improve access to basic healthcare services.
The delegation acknowledged these concerns and assured residents of the government’s commitment to addressing them. The Easter engagement was described as not only a celebration but also a meaningful opportunity to strengthen ties with communities and reaffirm dedication to development.
The visit concluded on a hopeful note, with a shared commitment to building more resilient communities and advancing development initiatives in line with the spirit of Easter—hope, renewal, and unity.
