Trade and Industry

The Department of Trade, Industry and Tourism, under the guidance of the Assembly, deals with issues related to trade, cottage industry and tourism in the district.

The Department facilitates the implementation of policies on trade, industry and tourism in the District, advises the District Assembly on issues related to trade and industry in the District, and assists in the collection and dissemination of tourism, trade and industry.

The Department is also responsible for facilitating the promotion and development of small-scale industries in the District, advising on the provision of credit for micro, small-scale and medium-scale enterprises, assisting in designing, developing, and implementing a plan of action to meet the needs and expectations of organised groups.

Lastly, the Department is responsible for promoting the formation of associations, cooperative groups, and other organisations that are beneficial to the development of small-scale industries, and assisting in offering business and trading advisory information services.
