As the spiritual and political capital of the Anlo Ewe people, Anloga is a living museum of West African traditions.

  • Hogbetsotso Festival: Celebrated every first Saturday of November, this grand festival commemorates the migration of the Anlo Ewes from Notsie. It features the famous “backward-walking” dance (Husago), meant to elude ancient enemies, and a grand durbar of chiefs in majestic regalia.
  • Traditional Governance: The district is the seat of the Awoamefia of the Anlo State, providing a window into a sophisticated traditional leadership system that has endured for centuries.
  • Atorkor Slave Market Monument: A solemn memorial on the site of a historic slave transit point, highlighting the district’s role in the transatlantic trade.
