101 Solar Lights Distributed to Bomigo Households to Boost Access to Clean Energy

Bomigo, Anloga District — In a significant step toward improving energy access in underserved communities, 101 solar lights have been distributed to households in Bomigo, an island community in the Anloga District that is yet to be connected to the national electricity grid.

The presentation was made today by the Guest of Honour, who highlighted the importance of sustainable energy solutions in enhancing living conditions for off-grid communities. The initiative, supported by Renewable Energy for Communities (REC), aims to provide reliable and clean lighting to households, thereby improving safety, productivity, and overall quality of life.

Residents of Bomigo are expected to benefit from improved night-time visibility, reduced reliance on kerosene and other non-renewable sources, and enhanced opportunities for evening activities such as studying, small-scale businesses, and social gatherings.

Speaking at the event, the Guest of Honour expressed gratitude to REC for its commitment to bridging the energy gap in hard-to-reach areas. The intervention was described as a vital step toward inclusive development and energy equity.
